Anser U2 Encoder Kit 400 DPI is for Anser U2 thermal inkjet printers, including the Pro-S, SmartOne and Smart. An encoder is an absolute must have in two instances:

1. Any barcoding applications, QR, 2D, Data Matrix or standard barcodes require an encoder to insure precise dot placement needed for consistent readability. 
2. Whenever line speeds are inconsistent.  An encoder will eliminate the possibility of stretched or compressed prints.
